The first new moon of 2025, this is an obsessive and intense new beginning in your life.
A new moon is when the sun and the moon are together in the same sign. This month these celestial bodies are in 9 degrees of Aquarius (Saturn ruled = serious, mature, about boundaries, and stability). Due to Aquarius being an air sign, there is a lot of energy around open-mindedness and building things for the future.
The sun and the moon are in the first decan of Aquarius, which is associated with the 5 of Swords Tarot card (“Lord of Defeat”). This card comes up when it shows that you are intentionally leaving something, because you know you need to leave. There is this feeling that you are not going to win so you need to go elsewhere and start something new on your own. With the part of the sky that is in Aquarius, the desire or need to go off on your own could come from wanting revenge or to prove ourselves to those we didn’t belong to or couldn’t work with.
Sun and the moon are conjunct Mercury (rules communication) and Pluto (planet of intensity, drama, obsession, and death + rebirth.) This just shows that we are verbally and intellectually very serious about what we’re doing and that it means a lot to us.
During this time Mars is still retrograde in Cancer, showing that there is a lot of frustration and manipulation still occurring. Mars is also square Chiron, which could show that we are acting out of being triggered and being made small.
This new moon’s main focus is an obsessive intense intellectual new beginning where we are dedicated to accomplishing something with a new set of values that we are very passionate about.
