Leo New Moon – 24 July 2025

New Moons are new beginnings, marking the start of something new or the beginning of a new cycle. New moons are a period of stillness, as the moon is dark in the sky, making it a private or internal experience.

This is still a new moon in Leo, making it passionate, driven, and something you would want to share with your community. Just a reminder not to always share your wins before it is finalised.

The moon is at the height of its cycle by 19:10 and in 2 degrees of Leo, placing it in the first decan of Leo, which is associated with the 5 of Wands Tarot card, known as the Lord of Strife, which involves people not having your best interest at heart feeling as if there is negativity around you. This decan is ruled by Saturn, which is inherently more serious, mature, and refined. It also speaks of performing/acting out when being judged. Be careful who you share your new beginning with or who you are bringing into the start of this new cycle.

The new moon is conjunct Mars during the Mercury Retrograde, which shows miscommunication, confusion, and misunderstanding, and the need to redo, fix, and get informed again. The only thing this retrograde highlights is the egos involved of the people attached to the plans, and if it does not all go to plan, there might be a few tantrums. Therefore, it is good to prepare to be flexible during this time period.

The moon is also exactly opposite Pluto in Aquarius, inhabiting the feeling of being pressured, manipulated, or scared of what another party might do. Simultaneously, Mars is conjunct the South Node in Virgo, which has the energy of meticulously removing things and people from your life that no longer serve your highest good. Venus is also in Gemini and squaring Mars in Virgo, which heightens romantic and fiery dynamics.

Most of it is asking you to keep a handle on the restraints and boundaries about your own actions. Do not be impulsive or egoic, and try to be mature when walking through your daily actions.

New Moon in Leo Journal Prompts:

  1. What is something new I feel called to begin: creatively, emotionally, or spiritually?
  2. In what ways am I being invited to lead and how can I do so with grace, not force?
  3. Who or what no longer aligns with my growth and how can I lovingly release it?
  4. What fears are surfacing for me and what might they be pointing to?
